Tigers Sweep Episcopal in Dual Meet

The Tigers traveled to Epsicopal for their fourth meet of the season.  Episcopal was a strong opponent on the track but the determination of the Woodberry team prevailed.  Congratulations to the new-boys on the team for their impressive contribution to the 65 -49 score.   The following athletes were able to secure a top three finish in each of their event(s).

First Place Finishes: Jonathan Yellets - 300 m, Hunter Faulconer - 55m, Edward Bailey - high jump, Addison Winston 3200 m, Isaac Michandani - long and triple jumps, Captain Rue Hockensmith - shot put, the 4x400 m relay of Eli Exum, Eric Ways, Jonathan Yellets and Captain Tripp Grant.

Second Place Finishes: Zach Wiesler - 300 m, Eli Exum - 500m, Reid Swearingen - 55m, Jack Sewell - high jump, Ben Pugh - triple jump, and Captain Buckley Davis - shot put.

Third Place Finishes: Captain Matthew Laws - 1600 m and 3200 m, Hunter Faulconer - long jump, Lat Peak 55m hurdles, Eric Ways 500 m, David Little - high jump and Will Tucker - triple jump.

A Meet of Personal Bests

The third meet of the season was a challenging one for the Tigers.  The Woodberry Forest Track team met Fork Union, Fauquier, Brentsville, and Brooke Point at the Barbee Center for an extremely competitive meet.  Although the team did not finish in first place, many athletes achieved their bests.  Congratulations to the following athletes for setting personal bests in one or more events: Jonathan Yellets, Eric Ways, Zach Wiesler, Captain Tripp Grant, Mark Petrone, Isaac Mirchandani, Captain Buckley Davis, Edward Bailey, Eli Exum, Grantham Hagood, Chris Wheelock, Captain Matthew Laws, Hunter Faulconer, Richard Gates, Reid Swearingen, Joe Geib, Will Borden and Joseph Seo.

Woodberry's Track Team Welcomes Shot Put All-American Justin Clicket

Justin Clicket, a Four-Time All American athlete, has led two clinics for Woodberry's Indoor Track and Field Team throwers.  Justin was pleased to share his knowledge of the event with Will Borden, Buckley Davis, Rue Hockensmith and John Moses.  Justin's passion for the sport is truly admirable and his athletic resume is impressive.  He currently holds the University of Pittsburgh's Indoor and Outdoor Shot Records and Virginia Tech's Indoor Shot Record.  Not only is he a record holder for these universities, but he has also earned the following titles: World Junior Finalist, Four-Time All American, Two-Time Big East Champion, ACC Champion, East Region Champion, IC4A Champion, Big East Field MVP, and 9th Place USA Champion.  He is currently training for the 2012 Olympic trials.  Many thanks to Justin for his time and best wishes to Woodberry's shot throwers for a successful indoor season!

Welcome to the 2010-2011 Winter Indoor Track and Field Season

Indoor Track and Field 2010-2011 is well underway.  The Woodberry team has a bright future with so many talented athletes.  Each practice leads to another discovery and a better lead to each individuals strength.  Testing has been concluded, events are being selected and a promising Intrasquad Meet is scheduled for Tuesday, December 7.  Thank you coaching staff for your patience, time and talent the past two weeks.  Best wishes for a rewarding and successful season to all of our athletes!
